FBD-202-12-TC
Solid Carbide Flat Bottom Drill for Non-Ferrous Material
Solid Carbide Flat Bottom Drill, 0.3750in Diam, 2 Flute, 2.250in Flute Length, 0.375in Shank,4.000in OAL, 1.8750in Max Hole Depth, 0.020in Radius, Tuffy Material, Thru coolant

True 180° flat-bottom drilling — burr-free intersecting, angled and shoulder holes
- True 180° flat tip with a small corner radius (0.005" on 1/8" dia up to 0.02" on 5/16"–1/2") for burr-free intersecting holes, shoulder drilling, angled holes and flat-bottom guide holes
- Two lengths: FBD-201 short (2x diameter) and FBD-202 deep (5x diameter), each in six sizes from 1/8" to 1/2" diameter
- Aluminum version (pg 74): sharp edge, available uncoated, DLC coated, thru-coolant, and thru-coolant DLC; for aluminum, plastics and wood at 500–1000 SFM (2x) / 250–500 SFM (5x)
- Steel version (pg 98): T-Process honed edge with AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) coating (-TP-A) for cast iron, steel, stainless and super alloys — 200–350 SFM in mild steel/gray cast iron down to 60–90 SFM in 6Al4V titanium, Inconel, 13-8/17-4 SS and 440C
- Always start the hole with the short 2x FBD-201 before finishing depth with the 5x FBD-202 to prevent walking; spot drill first if the drill walks on flat surfaces
- On angled surfaces up to 30°, reduce feed (IPR) to 50%; beyond 30° or on curved/partial holes, reduce feed to 30% and RPM to 70% of recommended
- Thru-coolant versions recommended for FBD-202 (5x) deep holes and whenever chip packing occurs; pecking helps if thru coolant is unavailable
- Max hole depth published per size: e.g. 1/4" FBD-201 = 1/2" deep, 1/4" FBD-202 = 1-1/4" deep; 1/2" FBD-202 = 2-1/2" deep
- Series tolerances: cutting dia +0.000/−0.001", shank dia −0.0001/−0.0002", flute length +0.060/−0.000", OAL ±0.060"

About this series
FBD 2-Flute Flat Bottom Drills
Flat-bottom drills for clean holes in aluminum, steel & difficult alloys
The FBD Series are 2-flute flat bottom drills with a 180 degree tip and corner radius, for intersecting holes, shoulder drilling, angled holes and guide holes. Offered in 2x diameter (FBD-201) and 5x diameter (FBD-202) flute lengths, in uncoated, DLC-coated and thru-coolant versions for aluminum, and AlTiN-coated (with T-Process hone) versions for steel and difficult alloys. Thru-coolant variants are recommended for deep holes with the 5x drill.
- 2 flute, 180 degree tip with corner radius
- Available in 2x diameter (FBD-201) and 5x diameter (FBD-202) lengths
- Aluminum versions: uncoated, DLC coated, and thru-coolant
- Steel / difficult-alloy versions: AlTiN coated with T-Process hone, with thru-coolant option
- Thru-coolant recommended for FBD-202 (5x) deep holes and when chip packing is a problem
Aluminum, plastics and wood (uncoated/DLC line); cast iron, steel, stainless steel and super alloys (AlTiN-coated line). Applications: intersecting holes, shoulder drilling, angled holes and guide holes. Use FBD-201 (2x) to start the hole before the FBD-202 (5x) to reduce walking.
