RobbJack FMHV Series 2-flute ultra-high-velocity aluminum end mill with necked reach and 37-degree helix

Ultra-high-velocity 2 and 3 flute aluminum end mills with reach and radii for high-horsepower spindles — the guide warns these tools 'can max out all machines made today.'

  • 2 flute (FMHV-201–205) and 3 flute (FMHV-301–305), 37° helix, with Feather Blend, necked reach, Mirror Edge, and thru-coolant holes
  • Built for ultra-high velocity: guide speeds & feeds are based on 175-horsepower / 130-kilowatt machines with short stickout — 'these tools can max out all machines made today. Adjust speeds and feeds to the machine and application… Be careful!'
  • Run at Max Tap Tested RPM (or Max RPM) with chip loads from .002–.004 (1/4") up to .008–.015 (1") per tooth, at depths from .100" up to .900" — slot or profile, but stay away from 50% radial step-over
  • Four reach lengths per diameter, short to extra-long (e.g. 1/4": 3/4", 1-1/16", 1-1/2"… on 2"–3" OALs); other reach lengths available upon request
  • Inch sizes 1/4"–1"; metric MFMHV line runs 6–25 mm with 2 and 3 cutting-edge versions in the same tables
  • Corner options: square end, radii of .03", .06", .09" (metric 0.5/1/2 mm), and ball end (-BN)
  • Every geometry in four builds: uncoated, DLC, thru-coolant (-TC), and thru-coolant DLC
  • The 3-flute FMHV features the guide's ALL-NEW balanced end design — marked 'CANNOT PLUNGE', so enter with helical interpolation or ramping
  • Applications: slotting, side milling, helical interpolation, ramping, high-performance 3-D (2-flute), roughing, semi-finishing, finishing — wet; materials: aluminum, copper, magnesium, brass
  • h4 shank tolerance, up to 150% more gripping force — tightest in the industry; tolerances: cutting dia −.001/−.0015, shank −.0001/−.0002, flute length +.060/−.000

Mirror Edge: clean, even edge — Magnified edge view showing the smooth, continuous cutting edge FMHV tools carry — RobbJack's edge preparation dampens vibration to help eliminate chatter at ultra-high velocity.

About this series

FMHV / MFMHV High-Velocity Aluminum End Mills

The flagship for long, chatter-free aluminum cutting.

High-velocity, necked-reach end mills engineered for aggressive aluminum machining — from standard machining centers to the highest-horsepower, highest-rpm spindles made today. Patented Mirror-edge geometry clears chips fast and runs clean at long reach.

  • Necked reach (short / medium / long / extra-long) clears the work and holds rigidity
  • Patented Mirror-edge geometry for a polished cut and fast chip evacuation
  • Square, corner-radius and ball-nose options; thru-coolant and DLC available
  • 2- and 3-flute, inch (FMHV) and metric (MFMHV)

Headline spec

Peak MRR up to 604 in³/min (1" 3-flute, thru-coolant + DLC)

Best for

  • High-speed aluminum roughing & finishing
  • Aerospace structures
  • Long-reach pockets
